About Me
Hello! I’m Claire, a Ph.D. candidate at Boston University, passionate about advancing cancer research and bridging scientific discoveries with real-world impact.
My journey in biology began in an unexpected way: through beer. Growing up in Qingdao, a city famous for its green-bottled Tsingtao beer, my curiosity about the science behind brewing sparked my first interest in microorganisms. This early fascination led me to explore increasingly deeper questions about how life works at a cellular and molecular level.
My academic path has been truly global. As an undergraduate, I studied abroad multiple times. In Sydney, I honed my critical thinking and innovative problem-solving skills in life sciences. Later, during a summer school in Boston, I immersed myself in cutting-edge cancer genetics.
A pivotal moment in my career came at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, where I worked closely with doctors and physicians on projects focused on non-small cell lung cancer patient treatment. Collaborating at the intersection of research and clinical application, I witnessed firsthand the urgency for scientific innovation to directly improve patient outcomes. This experience ultimately guided my decision to pursue advanced research in cancer biology at Boston University.
Increasingly, I am inspired by the challenge of not only generating breakthroughs at the lab bench, but also understanding the business and revenue side of biotechnology—how scientific insights are transformed into real therapies and brought to market for patients worldwide.
On this website, I share highlights from my research, insights on biotech innovation, and my ongoing journey as a scientist at the crossroads of discovery and business.
Let’s connect and explore the next frontiers in science and biotech together!
